#New York Bar @ Park Hyatt Tokyo.

Yes, we only went to the New York Bar at the Park Hyatt to pretend we are Scarlett Johansson in the 2003 movie “Lost in Translation”. However we played more the roll of Bob staying all night at the bar.

LOCATION

If you have watched the movie you, might have seen how Bob arrived with a black car in-front of the massive complex. Bob gets greeted by the staff and woosh he was at the Bar.

Well in real life it’s not as easy as it looks – unfortunately! The Park Hyatt occupies the top 14 floors of the Shinjuku Park Tower. Try to find the Info desk located on ground floor at Gallery 1. On the right of the desk you find the first Park Hyatt clue – “Please use the stairs in the delicatessen”. Keep walking until you reach the “Main Entrance” to the Hotel. This map might help you! If you opted to take a taxi or car from somewhere, you’ll pull into a driveway and breeze past a door right into this main entrance.

To be honest….. you are not at the bar just yet 🙂 You have to take the first elevator bringing you to the 41st floor – the Hotel Lobby. Walking through the Hotels Library will get you to the second elevator. This one is taking you up to 52nd floor where the bar is ACTUALLY located – well done you made it! Isn’t that view worth it?

DRINKS

Whether you order a vodka tonic – like Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) did – or if you go with the advised Suntory whisky given to her by Bob or the staff. You will not regret either choice!

But even if you don’t like vodka nor whisky the drinks menu offers a huge variety of cocktails, beers (eww) and other spirits.

EXPERT’S VERDICT

To be quite honest. We do not remember a lot of that evening and this has nothing to do with the drinks. We were just so dead from our trip around the world. But this is a good news. We have to go back! YAY!!!!!

Make sure you have made a reservation prior. We arrived quite late and the Bar was packed. Also to consider is, that hotel guest have priority! Which we personally think it’s a very good thing. Next time we will spend at least one night at the Park Hyatt just to have priority access to the New York Bar.
